Halloween is a fun & spooky time of year, but it doesn’t have to be too scary for younger kids. There are lots of choices of gentle Halloween activities that won’t give your kids nightmares.  These options are often indoors, well lit and sometimes on the weekend to accommodate earlier bedtimes.

ABBOTSFORD

Moo or Boo at the EcoDairy – October 31, 10 am – 5 pm
COSTUME CONTEST, PHOTO OPS, tattoo booth, barn tours, petting zoo, the Amoozing Race, sweets and treats, spooky science, crafts and more! $3 admission.

BRITANNIA BEACH

 

Spooktacular Halloween Event at Britannia Mine – from 10 am to 3pm October 19th & 20th  and October 26th & 27th
Spooky Train & Tour, Strange Science Show, optical illusions and animal specimens, costume photobooth and the BOOM! In the historic mill. Admission is $15 for visitors 5-12, $20 for visitors 13+.

BURNABY

Bonsor’s Big Boo – October 25 from 6-8:30pm
Do creepy crafts, explore the Imagination Playground, games, cookies a haunted house, face painting, colouring and more for just $1.

Monster Mash at Eileen Daily – October 26 from 2pm – 5pm
Costumes are encouraged at this haunted swim with on deck and in pool games. Regular admission rates apply. 

Spooktacular Toonie Skate at Kensington – October 25 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Enjoy family-friendly activities and ice skating, with skates and helmets included in admission cost of $2.

Ghouls & Goblins Toonie Skate at Bill Copeland  – October 26 from 12:30-3:00 PM
Ice skating, face painting, crafts, games and costumed fun! Admission is $2 each (kids under 3 are free! Skates and helmets are included in admission)

Hallowe’en Howler at Cameron Rec CentreOctober 26 from 10am – 1:00pm
Donate to the food bank and do crafts, enjoy the Imagination Playground, do the movement circuit, play games, have fun with face painting, guess the pumpkin’s weight and more. Admission is free.

Burnaby’s Haunted Village – October 25-28 from 6-9 pm
Enjoy trick-or-treating, entertainment and carousel rides at this event at Burnaby Village Museum. Cost is $14 for adults, seniors and youth, and $9 for children 2 to 12 years of age. Burnaby Village Museum members get in free!

The Great Pumpkin at CG Brown – October 27, 12pm – 1:30pm
Games, candy and prizes. Adult must accompany kids under 7 in the water. $1 admission. 

Hallowe’en on the HeightsOctober 31 from 3:30pm to 5:30 pm
Dress up and trick or treat with participating merchants (identified with pumpkin window decals).

Halloween Costume Parade by NBNH – October 31 from 9:35 am – 11:30 am
For kids 5 and under at North Burnaby Neighbourhood House (4908 Hastings).

Burnaby Central Railway Halloween Train Rides – October 31 from 6-9pm
Ride the train in costume, enjoy free hot chocolate and a cookie. Admission is $4.50 per person. 

Pumpkin Parade at Confederation Park – November 1 from 5:30-8:00 PM
Line up your pumpkin along the walking path to form an illuminated parade. Rain or shine. 

COQUITLAM

Hallowe’en Bash Children’s Event – October 26 from 4pm-7pm
Games, contests and spooky surprises. $2 per person. All ages welcome. Haunted house is recommended for children ages 7 – 12 yrs. Pre-registration is recommended.  Drop-in will be subject to availability. 

Hallowe’en Skate at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex – October 27 from 1:15 – 2:30 p.m. & 2:45 – 4 p.m
Join in on-ice activities in costume if you like. Admission is $3.25 per person and skate and helmet rentals are available. 

A Family Haunted Halloween – October 27 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Crafts, gym games and a bouncy castle.  Haunted house for children 6-10. All family members attending must register.  Parent participation is mandatory. No drop-ins at the door. Registration includes a hot dog, fruit and beverage.  Cost: $5.00

Jumpstart Hallowe’en Music and Story Time – October 30, 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. & 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Child-friendly spooky songs, stories and fun. Costumes encouraged! $5.00 per family member, all family members must register in advance.

Grandparent & Me – Halloween at Dogwood – October 30 1:30 – 3 p.m
Sing-a-longs, fun arts and crafts and some trick-or-treating for children 3 – 5 yrs. $9.70 per person. Pre-registration is required. All family members must register to attend. 

Coquitlam Halloween House – October 19- October 31, 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm
Spooky attractions suitable for all ages, lights and lasers, pumpkins and ghouls, all raising money for Variety the Children’s Charity. Wheelchair accessible. 

Mr. I’s Slightly Spooky Songs and Stories Concert at Place Des Arts – October 27, 2pm to 3:30pm
Enjoy live music and stories, dress up in your costumes and have lots of fun! $10 per person. 

FORT LANGLEY

Trick or Treat at Fort Langley – October 27 from 10 am to 5 pm
Scavenger hunt, trick-or-treat at the historic buildings, and wear your costumes for great photos! Tickets are:  $7.80/adult, $6.55/senior, free for youth and pass holders. 

LANGLEY

Willowbrook Mall Trick or Treat – October 31 from 5pm – 7 pm, while supplies last
Get a goodie bag and treats from participating retailers. MInimum $2 donations will be taken for Langley School District Foundation. Enter to win prizes! 

MAPLE RIDGE

Eat Drink and Be Scary at Haney House Museum – October 27 from 11 am to 3 pm
Games, crafts, and more! Spooky decorations and a Halloween display of scary toys from the past, and the history of candy! Remember to wear a costume, and take home a sweet treat. Parents must accompany children to the event. Admission $5/child, adults free.

NORTH VANCOUVER 

Vancouver Circus School’s Halloween Circus Carnival  – October 27th – 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Trick-or-Treating, Food Carts, Aerial Silk and Trampoline Lessons, Juggling, Costume Contests, Photo Booth, Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Roving Entertainment, Scavenger Hunt, Crafts, Games and more! Interactive circus shows every 30 minutes. Note that the shows get spookier as the evening goes on.
Age Recommendations:
4:00pm – 6:00pm: All Ages
6:00pm – 8:00pm: 11+
8:00pm – 10:30pm: 19+ (Bar available)
Admission: $10 advanced purchase (before October 23rd), $15 at the door. Children under 1 years old FREE.

Other events such as Capilano Mall  &

Park Royal Mall have not yet updated their 2018 events. We will continue to monitor.

 

PORT COQUITLAM

Halloween Skate at the Recreation Complex – October 27 from 1:15 pm – 3:45 pm
Dress up in costume for skating, face painting, games and crafts. Regular Admission rates and rentals apply.

SQUAMISH

Halloween Halloween Trick Or Treat at the Sea to Sky Gondola – October 27 from 12 – 4pm
The Sea to Sky Gondola welcomes costume-clad trick-or-treaters of all ages for an afternoon of seasonal surprises, face-painting and Trick or Treating. Admission is free with gondola lift tickets or a valid annual pass. Upon arrival, visit the Basecamp Cafe and then head up the gondola for trick or treating on the Alpine Alley Trail to visit our favourite characters. The first 250 trick-or-treaters are invited to pick up a special bag to decorate in the Basecamp Cafe.

SURREY

Bear Creek Park TrainOctober 5 to 31 from 10 am until 4:30 pm, rain or shine.
Do some Hallowe’en themed crafts on the platform, play games, make a pumpkin mask, have a treat on the Pumpkin Train that takes you to the Pumpkin patch where your kid can pick their own pumpkin (children under 2 and adults will not receive pumpkins). Haunted Farm Family Day – At Historic Stewart Farm – October 26 from noon to 3 pm
Palm reader, scavenger hunt, autumn photo opps, candy, Halloween games and hot chocolate.
Admission is free. 

Hallowe’en in the Forest at Surrey Nature Centre October 26 from 10 am to 2 pm
Admission is free! Get out in your costume and learn about nature on Hallowe’en.  Meet the Forest Fairy. Costume prize draw, indoor/outdoor, rain or shine. 

Halloween Themed Skates and Swims – October 19- 28, Various rinks, various pools, various times
Regular drop-in admission applies. 

Halloween Dance at Fleetwood Community Centre – October 25 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm
Music for all ages, crafts for kids, many activities and prizes for the best costumes. Costumes optional. $8.75 per person. Register online. 

Halloween Escape Room at Fraser Heights Recreation Centre – October 26 at 1 pm to 5:30 pm
All ages welcome, for groups of up to six people. Each group must have one person pre-register for a time slot. For more information, call 604-592-6920.

Boo-seum at Museum of Surrey – October 26 from 1 pm to 4 pm
Scavenger hunt and crafts. Trick or treat and show off your costume. Free admission. 

Halloween Howl at Bridgeview Community Centre – October 26 from 6 pm to 8 pm
Activities, games and treats. Crafts, potion-making, fortune teller and complimentary hot chocolate and coffee. This event is free. 

Halloween Family Fun at South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre – October 27 from 1 pm to 3 pm
Halloween crafts, games and a costume parade. $7 per person – register online. 

VANCOUVER

Stanley Park Ghost Train October 11-31, Friday to Sunday 11 am to 5 pm
The Little Monsters Matinee has no scary actors or live performances, only static displays. Parental discretion advised for kids under 6. Rides between 11 am and 2pm are unlimited. Matinee tickets are $6 for all ages and can be purchased in advance online to avoid disappointment.

Halloween at the Roundhouse – October 31 from 4:30-7:30
Pre-register, wear your costume and join in the fun with crafts and games.

Glow in the Garden at VanDusen Gardens – Open daily from Thursday, October 17 to Sunday, October 27, from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Enjoy crafts, games and lit up pumpkins and light displays. Kids over 2 get in for $9.50, Seniors are $11.50, and adults are $13.50. Food vendors will be on site and it’s bigger and better than last year!

Fish Or Treat Sleepover at Vancouver Aquarium – October 26
Trick or treat, learn about marine life and sleep over in one of the galleries. Breakfast and snacks are included. This is for kids ages 6 and up. Members $92, non-members $115.
